EOTD: Park Picnic

Over Golden Week here in Japan, my husband and a friend of ours decided to have a picnic in Yoyogi park. We had a nice time despite the fact that as we were leaving the park it started to rain and we had to run from shop to shop in Shibuya for cover as we didn't have an umbrella and none of us wanted to invest in one. thankfully we made it to the station and weren't too drenched.

For the picnic's makeup I decided to try out some of the pigments I received in my swap with Winnie.

Products used:
CanMake eyeshadow base
MAC Naked Lunch e/s
MAC Kitschmas pigment
MAC Teddy eye khol tight-lined
Revlon Grow Luscious mascara

I think the look turned out pretty nicely considering it was my first time using pigments. I look forward to playing with them more.

Aside from Golden week fun, things have been pretty busy as of late. As some of you may already know, my husband and I are moving to Los Angeles, CA in June. Unfortunately it means that while I do enjoy blogging, has taken a back-burner as I am trying to enjoy and do as much as I can in my last couple of weeks here in Japan. I have more posts in the works so please be on the lookout for those.

And if you haven't already entered my 1st Blogaversary Giveaway, please check it out there is still time!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

1st year blogaversary and giveaway. **CLOSED**

So a year ago from this past Saturday I started this blog, at that time I really had no idea if I would be "good" at it or if anyone would even want to read what I wrote. Though as luck would have it I started to have people start to read and comment on my posts and I started doing the same for others and became part of this big blogging community. I have to say I have learned a lot about myself and my spending habits in the last year. Let's just say being a blogger who likes makeup and fashion is NOT cheap! I have really enjoyed and hope to continue to share my finds, be inspired and learn from others about the things they like as well.

In a way to say thank-you for the past year of blogging with me I have decided to hold a giveaway.

Recent reads

Other than beauty and fashion one of my other pleasures is reading and with my current job I have lots of time on my hands between classes so I use the time to read. Here are a few of my recent reads that I would recommend to others.

I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore :
I picked this book up just after the earthquake with a book gift card I received as a present from my old boss. I honestly had no idea what the story was about, but I skimmed the back and it looked pretty interesting. Its basically about a group of nine aliens who escaped to earth after their planet was destroyed after another alien race attacked their planet and ruined it. This other alien race is also on earth and hunting the nine survivors.
This book was recently made into a Hollywood movie, ala Twilight and just like Twilight the movie it missed the mark BIG time. If you like sci-fi I suggest reading the book on this one and giving the movie a pass completely. I know I will probably not be watching the other movies for this series if they make them.

My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up & Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal by Russell Brand :
As you probably could have already guessed, these are Russell Brand's autobiographies about his life from when he was young until just after he met and proposed to his wife Katy Perry. While I love Katy, I actually liked Russell before the two were together. Though I am not British I love his sense of humor, the accent is pretty hot too! I didn't really know much about his life before MTV so it was interesting to read about everything he has experienced and overcome in his lifetime. The man definitely has life experience.

When you aren't writing about beauty/fashion what are some things you like to do? Is reading one of your passions too, if so what books would you recommend?

NOTD: Katy Perry style!

What can I say, other than that I am a HUGE Katy Perry fan. So when I read that OPI was going to release a Katy Perry line of polishes, I was pretty curious to see what they were going to come up with. (forgive me for the bad photos, I used the camera on my phone as my husband has our camera at the moment.)

So without any further ado, I give you my first NOTD with the polish called The One That Got Away. I really liked how this color turned out, I decided to start doing my toes for spring and summer with a bright color because I think with all that is going on in the world I needed something bright and cheerful to stare down at.

What colors for nails are you loving at the moment?
